Suggestion for improving forum: sticky threads

Question

Is it possible and easy to implement to create sticky topics?

I think it will improve the user-friendliness of the forums if a few important threads always appear on top when one clicks the ANSWERS tab. Instructional topics such as Sonrisa's FAFQ and the Guide to SpanishDict are great attempts to help users find answers quickly and keep forums 'clean', but unless the Search button is used, many people will not know of their existence.

I would like to see a thread's author could have a checkbox that would specify the default order of the answers for the thread.

For most threads, "Most Votes" would work fine.

For game threads, "Newest" would be best.

For certain "story" threads, "Oldest" may work best.

That way, users would not have to load the page twice before getting down to business, and newbies would not post incorrectly to games.

I think that the text, which is clearly present at the top of "Respuestas" is adequate for now. It's clear, concise, and has a link for more detailed questions.

In addition to that SD is creating a "Help Section" that will be debuted this year.

Beginners guide is different from FAFQ. I'm just tired that every day there's a new thread with the question 'how hard is it to Spanish', 'Is Mexican Spanish different' or 'Is Paralee single?' - S1r_Wakka, Jul 26, 2011

I can do that.

In any case, a help section is on its way, it is being designed by one of the software specialists.

I have already reported the missing tab for FAQ on the forum.

I have included the tab in the rules and guidelines, not that anybody ever reads them

I'd create a reference article with frequently visited threads It's official. I'm addicted to making reference articles.

I'd just need somewhere to put this article so it can be easily accessed.

I think Pesta's suggestion is spot on.

... or another category could be introduced for "Sticky Threads"

Either one could save new users a heck of a lot of time!!
