A Beginner's Guide to Span¡shD!ct: Reputation, badges, and learning points

You’ve probably seen something about reputation, or “rep”. You earn it by being voted up on answers or questions, voting up answers, or publishing phrases in the phrasebook. As you earn reputation, you earn more privileges around the site, which you can read more about here. There is a limit as to how much reputation you earn within a 24-hour period. You can earn 200 rep within 24 hours. When you vote up a question, you will receive 1-point of rep. You can earn 10 of your 200 rep by voting up questions within 24 hours. Don’t panic if you see “You earned 0 rep for being voted up on an answer to…”. Sometimes the system glitches where you’ll see you earned negative rep…hey, it happens.

At SpanishDict, you get badges! Sounds awesome, right? Well, they are…if you know what they are for 
As you reach certain milestones here at SpanishDict, you’ll receive badges. You can read about all of them here. The “Popular Question” badge, “Legendary Question” badge, and “First Anniversary” badge have not been functioning for a while, so do not panic if you do not receive them --- it’s not just you, nobody has gotten them.

Here at SpanishDict, not only are we a forum, we are a community…a Spanish (and English!!) learning community. As you learn here, you will see your learning points increase. It’s pretty fascinating to see your points grow along with your Spanish/English knowledge. You earn learning points by completing lessons and flashcards. You even earn badges as you reach milestones in your learning point amount.
