How would you translate "como que"?

I want to understand the use of "como que" as in: "Como que una persona toma la forma de la otra". The sentence in quotes is not a question.

Knowing the previous sentence would probably shed a lot of light on the context.

como

como que

conjunctive phrase

1) (que)

le pareció como que lloraban -> it seemed to him (that) they were crying

2) (expresa causa)

pareces cansado — como que he trabajado toda la noche -> you seem tired — well, I've been up all night working

3) (irónico)

¡como que te voy a creer a ti que eres un mentiroso! -> as if I'd believe a liar like you!

I’ve attempted to create a context. Consider:

“Existen dos posibilidades. Alguien está en dos lugares de una vez. Como que una persona toma la forma de la otra.”

Explain the use of "Como que..."

What do you mean that one person takes the form of another! It is said with a tone of surprise or disbelief.

Oh, I see that you said it is surely not a question. Well, then I am not so sure about my translation. A question is where I would expect to see "como que." - NuriaMonfort, Jul 3, 2011

In this case think of it as How (is it) that...
