"Me llega"

I have a friend who frequently says "Esta canción me llega" or "tu me llegas". I get that this means she really likes it, but how would you translate it?

It´s an idiom, so I wouldn´t worry about translating it. The important thing is that you know what it means.

How on earth would you ever translate "She digs it?" :- )

nice julian. great way to put it in perspective. - la-araña-discoteca, Jun 10, 2011
The group may be correct in this instance but with many idioms I would disagree. Understanding the background or origin of a word or phrase broadens our understanding. - Intense, Jun 10, 2011
In Guate "me llega" is a synonym to "I like it" or "I love it" . Translate it like that - Domboy, Aug 18, 2017

'Me llega' = speaks to me

"This song really speaks to me" or "this book really speaks to me." An idiomatic way to that something impacts you.

From the Spanish verb "llegar" and probably with the meaning of "to unite"... so in this case she and song or she and whomever she connects with are like one, they come together and coalesce, as it were... basically she 'gets' it or is into it, the song, the individual, etc.

# 11 = verb reflexive

Without any more context, I would translate "llegar a alguien" as "get to someone".

so "Esta canción me llega" = This song gets to me = I am emotionally touched by the song.

"Tu me llegas" = You can get to me = You get on my nerves.

Hope this helps. grin
