Most Frequently Used Words

Question

Is there a list, somewhere, that gives the top 500/1000/2000 Spanish words. I can learn flashcard groupings for special events, situations, etc. But if I could work on the words most commonly used it might help speed my understanding.

I ask this because I studied biblical Greek. There are only 27 books of the New Testament so the grammar and context never changes. I know that won't be true with Spanish, but I thought I would ask anyway. Otherwise I will start working on short groupings of things that I need to do.

I still have my beat up copy of Bruce M. Metzger's Lexical Aids for Student of NT Greek.

That list is really great, although some is subjective. Acudir, etapa, alemán, someter, voluntad. I wouldn't say these are in my top used 1000 by a long shot. - jeezzle, Jun 2, 2011

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

I would suggest Googling it! I have done this before -- you can look for most used verbs, adjectives, etc. That said, no one can know exactly what you need, but it's a good place to start
