I live here where the Royal Wedding is taking place and I am so, so, so, so excited. I will not sleep a wink until they are happily married. Oh what joy. Did you all see the engagement ring valued at £32,000,000. Quite a few nurses salaries there I would say. If the ring is valued at this amount, can you imagine the cost of the whole wedding. Also our government have declared it as an extra days holiday. As a business man running a company, this is another cost that I am over the moon about. I would have been very upset if the government had chosen to pay my workers for taking the day off.
Ask them what they think about the wedding! Don't get me started!
It's become quite a big deal here in the U.S. Glamorous jewels, dresses, food, parties....what's not to love?
Ah...the glitz, the glamor, the pageantry!!!
Yes, this certainly deserves the world's full and undivided attention. No need to focus on such obscure and pointless trivialities as nuclear catastrophes in the Pacific; ongoing wars in Iraq; presidents overstepping their constitutionally limited war powers and pumping even more money we don't have into their own pet wars; national economies flirting with bankruptcy; corruption; graft; unemployment; and just where in the world did all that bailout money really go.
I for one am so glad that these impending royal nuptials have given our overworked news media just the pretext that they have so desperately needed to allow them to report on all the more serious issues of the day...you know like who won on Dancing with the Stars; who got kicked off of the Celebrity Apprentice; has Charlie Sheen really lost his mind; and what is really going on with Nicolas Cage and his recent arrest.
You know...real news.

We were sold a bill of goods with the last 'fairytale'. The bride and groom barely knew one another, one was an opportunist and the other was desperate.
I just hope that the fact that William & Katherine knew each other for so long makes this a go for them. I hope she's not starting to manifest an eating disorder and it is just nerves. The world chatters about anorexia and bulimia but if this poor thing puts on an extra pound she'll never 'hear' the end of it.
I do think it will work: he seems to genuinely love her, and she seems to know that this is not all glitz and glam but hard, thankless work, and a lot of criticism for anything and everything.
I watched Charles & Diana (and I had to get up at 4 AM for that and also go to work that day), so I am definitely 'in' for this one.
Por favor despiérteme cuando se ha terminado.
Please wake me when it is done.

Overrated, overhyped, wasteful, anachronistic and, as Eddy points out, insulting to the thousands of people whose standards of living could be vastly improved with the cost of the engagement ring alone.
All the cynicism displayed here is great if you are doing something other
than talking about it. Are you out there helping the starving and the poor , are you off
working to relieve the grinding poverty of the worlds children , NO ! Well then let
us all enjoy a little extravagance and nonsense , it does no harm , and in fact
it does a lot of good in lifting the economy , giving work to thousands of people
who would otherwise be at home scratching their backsides , it also gives people
a big boost in moral and gets them away from their humdrum lives for just a
moment .
The two hours spent inside the Cathedral listening to that glorious music and
choristers , all the pomp and ceremony , all that was worth it to me alone.
I am a Republican not a monarchist but I see no wrong celebrating the tradition ,
it was the wedding of a handsome young couple who were on that day the
embodiment of all young married couples , they could all dream that their
marriage was equally as romantic , Fifty nine years ago I was a busby clad
young soldier standing to attention along that same route that the couple
travelled yesterday , it was the Coronation of his grandmother , I was not overly
impressed during the day , I was thirsty hungry and bursting to go to the loo.
But that night we all had a marvellous time . So try to look at the benefits that
are there and just enjoy the occasion , there is too much gloom around without us manufacturing our own version of , sour grapes.
I have anouther view on this
Maybe they spend a lot money... Well, at least the money then goes to the people who prepare the ceremony, they spend it somewhere else and it participates to the overall economy. I can picture worse use for such money, for example military or to let it rot in some bank. Another thing is that money which is in precious metals doesn't lose its value so quickly so maybe even a ring is a good investment - if a need aroused, they could still sell it and quite possibly for a better price...
Just wanted to show another view on this, that's all. This is the first place I even heard about the ceremony anyways.
Royal... what? Have I missed the wedding of someone I know? Someone important? Hope not. I'll get back to you guys.
Speaking of Royalty, Does Gekkosan get any Royalties from Geico?
I don't care much either way about the wedding. I guess it's part of the price the British pay for having a royal family.
I am happy for the couple, they seem decent enough, but I really don't see why it is a public holiday. Times have changed and I don't know many people who will be glued to the TV all day watching it. It should certainly be in the UK news but that should be enough really.
Thank goodness I don't watch much TV so I can avoid most of it.
Royal wedding as in Prince William and his princess? ugh... I havve no idea what to say. I wonder if they have washed their own dishes after they ate. Do you think they wear the same shoes twice?
Pomp and foolishness! The money spent went into the economy, yes but where did it come from, the poor taxpayer, more stimulus by any other name.
Go feed the hungry, and educate the uneducated.
