What is the verb for "to take time"?
For example in a sentence one would say "I am looking at the different routes of the walk to see how long it takes to do the walk". What verb would I use in Spanish that would have a similar meaning. I have used the dictionary already and it hasn't said that any of the verbs can be used when talking about time. Any help from any level of Spanish or English will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.
Edit 1. (on Leathas' point) Maybe a verb that would mean to pass time?

This is indeed incomplete. I guess (given the limited context), you can also say "ver cuánto tiempo se necesita para la caminata."
"Tardar" also works for "to take (put in here a certain amount of time)."
How about durar - to last?
El trabajo duró todo el día, the job lasted all day/took all day
Use demorar. Although it means to delay, you can use it the above context.
"Did it take you a long time?" "¿Tardaste mucho?"
"Tienes tiempo para la reflexión""
(You) take (have) time for reflection.
Just a thought
Keep in mind that this is not a complete sentence: "To see how long it takes to do the walk"..... "cuanto tiempo lleva para hacer la caminata" or "cuanto hace para hacer la caminata" or "cuanto tiempo hace para hacer la caminata."
Sometimes translations can't be word for word. You might need to come at what you want to say from a different angle. For example, How much time was the walk?
Maybe someone else has a better idea.
