What is the difference between Mexican Spanish and International Spanish?

I live in Texas and I am told that International Spanish is not the same as Mexican Spanish. Would like to know what the difference is.

Other than Mandarin, Spanish is the second most spoken language on the planet, with all its local nuances and usages, I think it is safe to say that "castillian" spanish is the standard by which spanish is taught ,at least in the most part.
