Isaac, I have heard the word used as a term of affection. I recall a post from one of the Chilean miners released last year that (apparently) affectionately referred to his wife as "mi negra".
You've had several posts on this subject. First, negra can be used as an adjective. Consult the dictionary on this site or in the library for several definitions of the word.
