I realized there is no verb for "to cool" in my vocabulary. As in "My food is cooling." Is there one? and if not, whats the equivalent?

You can always use "entibiar", which can mean either to cool or to warm.

Hola Rana5000,

In your sentence

Mis papas fritas estan enfriando

I would better say Mis papas fritas están frias or Mis papas fritas se han quedado frias.

But that is saying that they are already cold instead of saying that they are in the process of cooling down. - NikkiLR, Jan 15, 2011
in that case you could say Mis papas fritas se están enfriando. - miguel79, Jan 15, 2011
