******Declaration of Pardons****** In honor of this New Year, that being the year of 2011, we, the Administrators of SpanishDict (to wit: Heidi, Eddy, and Marianne), hereby grant full legal pardons to any and all of those members who currently occupy the place known as the "Dunce Corner." It is our express intention that this pardon be retroactive to the date on or before the date of the site's creation; however, it is hereby expressly stated that this pardon does not offer protection to any and all future offenses committed on or after January 2, 2011.

Good news, everyone!

As legal counsel on the "SD Innocence Project" I have finally achieved a pardon for all --- what a gift for the New Year! This Declaration of Pardons will be especially meaningful to "lifers," such as Quentin (the poor soul) who otherwise would have no chance of parole.

Congratulations to Echoline, Matt, Sandy, and all the other wonderful members of SpanishDict!

Enough is Enough!

Being a staunch conservative grammarian, I find this act–this blanket pardon of even the most hardened offenders–to be little more than a thinly veiled and reprehensible attempt to curry political favor amongst the various liberal special interest groups (the so-called vocal minority), which include, most notably, such dangerous fringe groups as:

?PPP (the Pro-Pronoun Party)
?Pronouns for a Right to Life
?cHaTsPeAk (A radical group tied to the decline in grammatical integrity of several well-known and once grammatically solvent websites)
?PETLi (People for the Ethical Treatment of Lowercase i)
?GrammarPeace
?NAACP (the National Association for the Advancement of Common Pronouns)'
?LULAC (the League of United grammar-Law Avoiding Citizens)'
?AGLU (the American Grammar Liberties Union)

It is already well documented the way in which such radical groups are undermining the very fabric of our society and its core grammar values. For instance, just last month, organizers from the PPP, LULAC, cHaTsPeAk and the NAACP joined forces to stage a rally in support of Prop. 30 (also known as "dirty-thirty"), a mandate calling for the repeal of Forum Rule §II.4, a law originally enacted to provide for the safe use of correct capitalization, grammar, spelling, pronunciation, and punctuation but which many of the "vocal minority" are shouting down as an example of what they claim to be a "demonstration in grammatical totalitarianism."

The contention that the current administration has long been considered a mere puppet for these shadowy anti-Grammar groups is nothing new; however, the fact that this pardon comes on the eve of an election year makes the connection between such groups and the current ruling party that much more transparent. Moreover, the fact that the current ruling party feels itself free to flaunt its power in the face of all common sense and in opposition to the very grammatical core values on which our society was founded makes this act all the more heinous.

They must be stopped NOW!

It's up to YOU to stop them!

When the ballots go out in the next election, vote YES to grammar integrity and vote NO to prop. 30.

If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired then send a message to those treasonous liberals and their cowardly cronies down in the current administration. Let them know that their days are numbered.

A grand gesture, indeed.

Congratulations to all the brave souls who have enriched this Forum by providing their efforts even at the risk of being sent to the DC.

Of course, due recognition goes to all the Dunce Corner Denizens who, throughout the yeas have turned the dank, subject-pronoun infested dungeon into a cozy and friendly learning spot. So much so that there are some that refuse to leave... smile

Was I a member of the dunce corner in 2010? And if I was, I thank sincerely Marianne, Eddy, and Heidi for allowing me out of the depths of 'the pit' in order to embrace the daylight...thank you all, and a very happy new year to you! May this coming year bring glad, joyous tidings for all of us amidst the chaos of this crazy world.

This reminds me of something I heard about El Camino de Santiago de Campostella (The Camino) along the north of Spain.

If you register at the appropriate place at the beginning of your pilgrimage, and you do the whole thing on foot, and you get your card stamped at various check points along the way, when you get to the church in Santiago, if you walk the Camino on the special 10th year (as in 2000, 2010...2020), and you pay the appropriate amount of money, the Catholic Church will absolve you of all of your sins.

Cool, huh? Being pardoned from the Dunce Corner is sort of the same thing, don't you think? alt text

the good thing is that we will all end up at cogu's house in Santiago de Campostella - Echoline, Dec 30, 2010
Wouldn't that be fun to have a SpanishDict group all take next August to walk the Camino together? - JoyceM, Dec 30, 2010

Ask Heidita; and be sure to use needless pronouns excessively when you do... ;) - estudiante9871, Feb 17, 2011
Hmm... ask her yes... intentionally misusing grammar doesn't sound like a good idea. =) - DJ_Huero, Feb 17, 2011

This thread is so good it bears repeating for those, like me, who missed it. Esta linea de ideas es tan bueno, se necesita repetirlo para todos, que no han leerlo.

I will use subject pronouns in English as it is accpetable but not in Spanish as verbs are already conjugated to refer to their respective pronouns without the need for the pronouns - FELIZ77, Dec 30, 2010
self-correction; acceptable - FELIZ77, Dec 30, 2010

Can I get a pardon in advance?. Rather like a Papal indulgence.
