Es que no entiendo . . .Si digo:

Aquél es un buen restaurante

o

Aquel es un buen restaurante

¿Hay diferencia? Si es así, ¿por qué? ¿Es necesario decir aquél en vez de aquel o ésta en vez de esta? ¡Muchas gracias! grin

I feel your pain. I have written many, "¿Qué is la diferencia?" type questions myself. You are on the right track if you are noticing these quirks.

"Note that éste can be written without an accent if it won't be confused with an adjective"

Ese is masculine and esa is feminine.

The secret to their meanings lie in the words Demonstrative Adjectives

I'm not saying I understand and can use all this, but hopefully this will help. It certainly has helped me in trying to find an answer for you. grin

========

I will hazard a guess that both are right depending on what you want to say.

vez de esta - instead of this (This is here or it is the first choice)

vez de aquel - instead of that (that is over there or it is the other choice)

I would check my response as best you can before using it.

You should use pronouns with accents when you're using them without any nouns, for instance esta vaza a ti y ésta(you're not using noun) a ti
