At the same time. For instance you could say,

"Él es un amante y un combatiente a la vez."

He is a lover and a fighter at the same time.

Also I've heard un día a al vez and that means one day at a time.

You could also look up expressions and phrases in the new phrase book here on this site. I put in "a la vez" and received this answer:

one day at a time
