Short answer: Many years!

But don't give up; it's worth it and so much fun along the way. You don't need to be fluent to get to communicate with some very interesting people and enjoy Hispanic culture. Good luck!

each his own. How many languages do you speak? How many Romance Languages do you speak. What is your age? All these are important variables.

& I'm 12 - Ashliex33, Jun 24, 2010
You're 12, good for you. Start young. You'll be fluent by the time it really counts. - salsero69, Jun 24, 2010
I started learning younger but I never decided I wanted to be fluent. Spanish is always fun,its beautiful :) - Ashliex33, Jun 24, 2010
if your 12 and already speak some spanish then it shouldn't be long. As long as you dont find the grammar too mundane. - El_Hitch, Jun 25, 2010
