Hi Jeezzle.

I'd agree that in this case "Aún así" means "Even so."

Aún así = Even though it's like that.....

Are you sure that the aún has an accent? When it means despite (conjunction) it does not. (I find it confusing since in English we could use still to mean despite that and Spanish uses aún for still, but in the sense of todavía.)
