Spanishdict... like other forum/learning sites?

votes

Well, I guess I'm new here, but I am accustomed to other forum/learning sites. I'm hoping this is basically like most others, only with a Spanish theme?

Bueno, supongo que soy nuevo aquí, pero estoy acostumbrada a otros foros / espacios de aprendizaje. Espero que esto es básicamente como la mayoría de los demás, sólo con un tema en español?

(Please correct my Spanish if it's improper or incorrect. smile)

Hi, Moany, and welcome to the forum.

The answer to your question is yes and no. Of course you expected that, jaja.

This is a great forum with all kinds of resources. The biggest problem we have here is that people get addicted.

If you want to review your Spanish, there are lessons and resouce material. If you have a specific question, you can post it here and get a response ususally in a few minutes. We have members all over the world and in just about every time zone, so usually someone is available to answer your questions.

Most of the folks here are friendly and share a common interest--leraning a language (either English or Spanish), and there are native speakers of both Spanish and English, plus a number of other languages. Believe me, if I give you an answer that isn't correct, there are a number of folks who will correct it.

You asked for corrections to your Spanish (which looks pretty good, from this brief sample). I have one correction, and a suggetsion:

estoy acostumbrada a otro foro (this needs to be feminine)

Since in the English, you said other forums, you probably should translate it in the plural: otros foros.

We really are glad to have you here, and hope you enjoy the site. Don't hesitate to ask/answer questions. Also, be aware that we all enjoy a good laugh from time to time.

Hola Moany y bienvenido al foro,

I have actually never spent time in any other forums. However, from what I hear, this is one of the friendliest.

Yes this is a Spanish/English learning forum. This is a place to ask questions and offer answers in an effort to improve language skills. We also participate in regular games and challenges with each other. On occasion, we discuss other topics of interest which help us to learn more about each other and the world we live in.

I hope you stay and become a part of the fun! smile

Hi Moany, welcome to the forum, my name is yesero and I too am a SpanishAdict. You just wait, you'll never get up from your keyboard now. By the way I checked your profile and see you have a name that is rather rare nowadays here in the US, lo mismo que mi madre. ¡Bueno!

Really? I didn't know my name was very rare. Do you mean your mom's name is Simonne as well? Or just that she has a rare name? - Moany, May 13, 2010
her name is Simonne. - Yeser007, May 13, 2010

Hola Moany. Bienvenida al foro grin

We like seeing nice people around here, people who say "thanks" and make a decent attempt at Spanish. That's why people are voting for you.

...Espero que esto sea básicamente ...

(subjuctive after "espero")

Hope you enjoy yourself here!

Welcome to SpanishADdict.com! :-D Like Nicole, I have never been a part of any other forums, but I can certainly say that I like it here! I joined on April 1, 2010, so I am still relatively new myself, but this site (as a whole) has done wonders for my Spanish training. I think you will find that you will come to love SD as much as the rest of us. ¡Buena suerte!

Hi Dan. "Suerte" is a feminine noun so you need to say "BuenA suerte." - --Mariana--, May 13, 2010
