Prefiero comprar en Navidad. (I got this straight from the translator)
OK, actually, you should use something like qfreed's suggestion, which I posted below to make it more prominent:
Prefiero hacer compras en la época de la Navidad.
The suggestion I got from the translator tool is more like "I prefer to buy in Christmas."
