"Hola" means hello. In Spanish, the "h" is always silent. "Ola" means "wave." Not like a literal ocean wave. Take a look at the dictionary reference to see what I mean. The dictionary at the top of the page as well as the translation tool work extremely well... try it out!

Yes, you are right, this is a very common misspelling:

Ola =hola

However, ola really means, spelled like this, wavewink
