My husband's illness

My husband's illness

Some of you may have seen Heidita's thread last night, about my husband. This is the promised explanation.

Two weeks ago, Albert was diagnosed with stage 4b cancer of the pancreas. I'm sure most of you will know what this means. Since then, we have been through various tests to determine the type and extent of the problem, and we have a meeting with our consultants on Monday afternoon, at 3.30pm BST, when they will tell us what they have learned, and, hopefully, what they can do for us.

The waiting is not pleasant, but can't be helped. These tests take time, and cannot be hurried. We don't need anything in the way of material help, but we do need, and would greatly appreciate, your positive thoughts and prayers as we wait, and as we come to terms with whatever they have to tell us. Please, when you have a minute, take the time to wish Albert, myself, and our daughter Kate well in whatever way seems best to you. Ask for us to be given the strength to face together what is to come.

And please, continue to be to me what you have all been over the past months when I haven't known what the problem was. I may not be so active on the site as I have been for a while, but I come here every day, to see what you people, who I have come to think of as my friends, are doing. It brings a little bit of normality back into my life, and I can sometimes lose myself in trying to decipher one of Heidita's "killer" threads. I perhaps ought to confess here, too, that several of my winning answers to Issa's picture threads have actually been Albert's - and I have only been responsible for the (often incorrect) translation! Because of the time difference, you people are here when most of my world is asleep, and you all really help me through the long nights.

I will tell you the outcome of our meeting when I can.

Yes, you all will be in my prayers and thoughts also. The internet is a strange thing. We meet people that mean so much to us even though we may never meet in real life. Somehow a person's character and personality shines through beyond mere words. It is almost a psychic or spiritual thing. I haven't know you long but having read many of your posts I have come to think very highly of you both. You are a light in the lives of all of us here. Of course we all wish you the very best in every way.

Not knowing can be frightening. We never know what may happen, it might be good. I had a friend who lived 2 years with this same diagnosis. I wish you peace whatever comes to you in the near future

Absolutely!!

You will be in my thoughts and prayers during the coming days. Abuelita asked me to tell you that she, too, will be praying for all of you during these difficult times.

Sheila, you, Albert and your daughter are certainly walking down a hard road together at the moment - and I feel in a spiritual sense by sharing what's happening in your lives - you are allowing us to walk with you....we will wait for whatever information you bring us....

Sheila, tonight I am going to church to do the "Stations of the Cross". This is the beginning of lent season. I don't know if you know what I am talking about. This is a special rite that we catholics do on this time, going over all of the moments Jesus went through before being crucified. And tonight I will be praying and asking Jesus to look over his son Albert to cosolate him and all his family on his suffering.

Best wishes and please keep us posted.
