I want to say something like "I get to go to Mexico this summer." Now, is there a verb to use? I don't want to say, "I am able to." because that has a different connontation than I am after. But, if you understand, could someone help me out?

In SpanishDict's entry for get, number 11 says:

  • to get to do something -> llegar a or tener la ocasión de hacer algo
  • you get to travel a lot in this job -> en este trabajo se viaja mucho
  • I finally got to see her -> por fin pude or conseguí verla

And, actually, I like even more the suggestion here, which says:

Get to (do something): "To have the opportunity to" is "tener la oportunidad de (hacer algo)."

So, at my current skill level, I'd feel comfortable saying:

Tengo la oportunidad de ir a Mexico este verano.
