Black Race
how do you say the race "black" in Spanish? I know it's "Negro" but wouldn't it be ofensive to write Negro as a race?

Me han dicho varias hablantes nativos que "personas de color" es correcto.
I´ve been told by several native speakers that "personas de color" is correct.
Y también me han dicho que decir "negro" podría ser ofensiva.
Also they told me that to say "negro" could be offensive.
The proper name of the black race is "Negroid' and "Negro" for a member of that race. There is nothing offensive about this word. However, "Nigger" is extremely offensive when used by a white person referring to a black person, albeit not uncommon to hear black people of low culture in America refer to one another as "Nigger." I would have to guess that this offensive word came from a mispronunciation of "Niger" when Europeans started enslaving many from that country to transport them to the Americas. And as Eddy has said, "People of Color," "Blacks," "African Americans," etc, have been popular phrases depending on the time frame they are used, but none are offensive.
Some Latinos say moreno/a. I've heard some Mexicans say mayate as well. I don't know of the political correctness of these two.

I am not a native but I don´t believe the word "negro" when referring to a race is inappropriate.
What I see in the subtitles on TV in Mexico is "hombres de color".
Wiki says "Negro".
