Spanish Dict Etiquette

Spanish Dict Etiquette

Hi All,

I've been following Spanish Dict for probably a few months now, just reading the forums and trying to learn. I haven't actually completed any flashcards or exercises yet (shame on me), but aspire to win the Student of the Week once I get going. I've really noticed that there are some strong relationships between everyone on the forum, so I wanted to introduce myself.

Steve (ElCantante) I'm 23 and from Connecticut. I have taken a Spanish class or two, but most of my experience comes from watching movies, listening to Spanish radio, and trying to speak with native speakers. Due to this experience, I can read and speak quickly, but I think my grammar and vocab are lacking.

Anyway, Let me know if there are any "unspoken" rules I need to abide by (I know I have to capitalize and use proper grammar). Other than that, hello all! You've already helped me a lot as I tend to read the forums during breaks in my current Spanish class, and I look forward to learning a lot more.

¡Hola and Bienvenido Steve!

As far as first impressions go, yours ranks pretty high up there. smile It seems you already understand the need for proper grammar, punctuation and spelling, which doesn't seem to be a problem for you, so that is great.

Other than that, when you feel comfortable, we look forward to your questions, comments and ideas. There are many fun and interesting people to meet in this forum, from all over the world. No matter what time of the day or night, there is always someone ready to join you in the pursuit of learning Spanish.

I do encourage you to start the videos and try out the flashcards. They are all excellent. I'm sure if you put your mind to it, you will be Student of the Week in no time. So we are happy you have joined us and we look forward to your contributions. smile

¡Buena Suerte, Nicole

Bienvenido! The more the merrier! Just remember that we come in all shapes and sizes and from all backgrounds, so we try to formulate our responses in the kindest manner possible. I think your introduction is great! (Would you like to meet my daughter? You seem like her type! Ha ha, totally kidding...)

I didn't introduce myself to the forum in such a fashion. Should I have done so?

With so many votes, will this become the norm for new people?

¡Claro que sí, la regla tácita es que todos los gentes aquí dan "moi" el dinero cada mes! Si no tiene el dinero necesario , el queso es aceptado como pago... LOL

Of course, the unspoken rule is that everyone here gives "moi" money each month! If you don't have the necessary money, cheese is accepted as payment...
