"I have washed all the dishes."
"I have washed all the dishes." In English this would mean everthing we ate with and used to cook the meal with. Including pots, pans, knives, forks spoons and everthing else I have messed my kitchen up with. I dont want to say just the platos. I have tried the translator but of course it just wants to refer to plates.

Jim, the word mountain girl was probably thinking of is 'TRASTES.' It refers to all cooking utensils, not just the plates that are used for eating. This is commonly used in Mexico for how we would say 'Wash the dishes.'
'He lavado todos los trastes.', I have washed all the dishes.
The following example is given for traste in SpanishDict.
'fregar los trastes' -> to wash the dishes
"los trastres" is used in Mexico to refer to all utensils for cooking or eating. "He lavado todos los trastres". In standard Spanish "platos" is used in that context to indicate "dishes" in general, just as we do in English. If I say "I have to wash the dishes" you would understand that I meant everything that needed to be washed from preparing and consuming the food.
JIm, I guess mountain girl meant trastos
Jim, please use correct spelling![]()
now i am confused, I went to the dictionary and tried to find the meaning for trastres and there is no interpretation. ??? My espanol is from Mexico close to the boarder with estados unidos.
"Lavar los platos" means to do the dishes, not just plates...
