A transitive verb phrase is a phrase that combines a verb with a preposition or other particle and requires a direct object (e.g. Take out the trash.).
a. to suggest that
Tienes un expediente académico brillante. Te sugiero que solicites una beca.You have a brilliant academic record. I suggest that you apply for a scholarship.
b. to suggest
Cuando le sugerí que se buscara un trabajo, me miró como si estuviera loca.When I suggested he should look for a job, he looked at me as if I was mad.
