An intransitive verb phrase is a phrase that combines a verb with a preposition or other particle and does not require a direct object (e.g. Everybody please stand up.).
1. (to add on weight)
a. to put on weight
Estás mucho mejor desde que subiste de peso.You look much better since you put on weight.
b. to gain weight
Al subir de peso, el boxeador pasó de la categoría de peso mosca a la de peso gallo.Upon gaining weight, the boxer went from the flyweight category to the bantamweight category.
