a. to get on (a bus, a plane, a train)
Cuando llegué a la estación, los pasajeros ya estaban subiendo al tren. Casi lo pierdo.When I arrived at the station, the passengers were already getting on the train. I almost missed it.
b. to get in (a car)
Los niños subieron al carro y su padre lo puso en marcha.The kids got in the car and their father started it.
