An adjective is a word that describes a noun (e.g. the big dog).
1. (not absolute)
a. relative
En términos relativos, vivimos en un país rico, aunque todavía exista mucha desigualdad.In relative terms, we live in a rich country even though there is still a lot of inequality.
b. relatively (adverb)
La limpieza de esta casa es relativa. Yo vi platos sucios.This house is only relatively clean. I spotted some dirty dishes.
2. (arguable)
a. debatable
A mí eso de que él no es responsable de lo que pasó me parece muy relativo.To me, all that about him not being responsible for what happened is debatable.
3. (regarding; used with "a")
a. relating
En la entrevista, me hicieron una pregunta relativa a mi experiencia laboral.At the interview, I was asked a question relating to my work experience.
b. related
Encontrará todo lo relativo al caso en este archivo.You can find everything related to the case in this file.
4. (grammar)
a. relative
En español, los pronombres relativos se acentúan en las oraciones interrogativas y exclamativas.In Spanish, relative pronouns have an accent mark in interrogative and exclamatory sentences.
A masculine noun is used with masculine articles and adjectives (e.g. el hombre guapo, el sol amarillo).
