mutilado

1. (disfigured)

2. (missing a limb)
a. disabled
El niño mutilado va a necesitar una silla de ruedas.The disabled child will need a wheelchair.
b. maimed
Les costó encontrar empleo a los soldados mutilados después de la guerra.It was difficult for the maimed soldiers to find work after the war.
c. crippled
An offensive word or phrase used to degrade a person or group of people based on race, gender, sexual preference, etc. (e.g. ghetto).
(pejorative)
Ignacio es el niño mutilado que anda con muleta.Ignacio is the crippled boy who walks with a crutch.
This means that the noun can be masculine or feminine, depending on the gender of person it refers to (e.g. el doctor, la doctora).
3. (maimed person)
a. disabled person
El hospital abrió un pabellón de rehabilitación para mutilados.The hospital opened a wing for the rehabilitation of disabled people.
b. cripple
An offensive word or phrase used to degrade a person or group of people based on race, gender, sexual preference, etc. (e.g. ghetto).
(pejorative)
La profesora regañó a los alumnos por decirle 'mutilado' al niño inválido.The teacher scolded the students for calling the disabled child a cripple.
