A feminine noun is almost always used with feminine articles and adjectives (e.g. la mujer bonita, la luna llena).
1. (piece of wax)
a. block of wax
El apicultor vende las marquetas a 150 pesos.The beekeeper sells the blocks of wax at 150 pesos each.
2. (rectangular piece)
Regionalism used in Latin America: all the countries in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Does not include Spain.
(Latin America)
a. block
Partí la marqueta para poder usar el hielo en las bebidas.I smashed the block of ice so as to use it in the drinks.
b. cake
Las marquetas de jabón se moldeaban a mano.The cakes of soap were molded by hand.
c. bar
Había una marqueta de jabón al lado de la canilla de la bañera.There was a bar of soap next to the faucet on the bathtub.
