An adjective is a word that describes a noun (e.g. the big dog).
1. (politics)
a. liberal
Nuestro candidato apoya las políticas económicas liberales y se opone al comunismo.Our candidate supports liberal economic policies and opposes communism.
2. (tolerant)
a. liberal
Somos bastante liberales con respecto a los gustos de nuestro hijo.We are fairly liberal about our child's preferences.
3. (abundant)
a. generous
Marta nos sirvió pollo y una porción liberal de papas al horno.Marta served us chicken and a generous helping of roast potatoes.
b. liberal
Añade una cantidad liberal de pimienta y sal a la carne.Add a liberal amount of salt and pepper to the meat.
4. (profession)
a. white-collar
Mi padre era granjero y trabajó duro para que yo pudiera estudiar y tener una profesión liberal.My father was a farmer who worked hard so I could have an education and a white-collar profession.
This means that the noun can be masculine or feminine, depending on the gender of person it refers to (e.g. el doctor, la doctora).
