A feminine noun is almost always used with feminine articles and adjectives (e.g. la mujer bonita, la luna llena).

b. finishing line (end of race)
Esprintó las últimas 20 yardas hasta la meta.He sprinted the final 20 yards to the finishing line.
c. winning post (horse racing)
El caballo atravesó velozmente la meta en el Derbi de Kentucky.The horse dashed past the winning post at the Kentucky Derby.
2. (objective)
a. goal
Su meta principal era la sostenibilidad a largo plazo de la empresa.His main goal is the long term sustainability of the business.
b. aim
La meta de la organización es acabar con la pobreza infantil.The organization's aim is the elimination of childhood poverty.
c. target
El gobierno estableció sus metas de gastos del año en vigor.The government established its expenditure targets for the current year.
This means that the noun can be masculine or feminine, depending on the gender of person it refers to (e.g. el doctor, la doctora).
3. (sports)
a. goalkeeper
El meta del Sevilla frenó el duro ataque del Barcelona en la final.Seville's goalkeeper stopped Barcelona's heavy attack in the final.
