USAGE NOTE
The word "Juneteenth" is a portmanteau of the words "June" and "nineteenth" and commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in the state of Texas in 1865. June nineteenth is currently recognized as a state holiday or day of celebration in the majority of the 50 U.S. states and celebrates the abolition of slavery in the United States.
