An adjective is a word that describes a noun (e.g. the big dog).
1. (irreligious)
a. impious
A word or phrase used to refer to the second person formal “usted” by their conjugation or implied context (e.g. usted).
Al religioso le ofendió el comportamiento impío de la joven.The cleric was offended by the impious behavior of the young woman.
b. heathen
A las mujeres impías les dieron opción de retractarse.The heathen women were given the opportunity to recant.
c. godless
En la carta el rey los describe como "gente impía y primitiva".In the letter the king describes them as "godless, primitive people".
d. ungodly
Los impíos habitantes de la ciudad fueron castigados por el Señor.The ungodly inhabitants of the city were punished by the Lord.
2. (cruel)
a. pitiless
Los actos impíos del asesino demuestran lo malvada que puede ser una persona.The murderer's pitiless actions demonstrate just how evil people can be.
This means that the noun can be masculine or feminine, depending on the gender of person it refers to (e.g. el doctor, la doctora).

Yo respeto a un impío siempre y cuando él, a su vez, respete mis creencias.I respect heathens as long as they in turn respect my beliefs.
