A prefix is an affix that is added to the beginning of a word to create a new word with a different meaning (e.g. auto, pre).

a. pre-

a. la primera plana
(f) means that a noun is feminine. Spanish nouns have a gender, which is either feminine (like la mujer or la luna) or masculine (like el hombre or el sol).
