intransitive verb phrase
An intransitive verb phrase is a phrase that combines a verb with a preposition or other particle and does not require a direct object (e.g. Everybody please stand up.).
a. to be sick
Estoy enfermo y debo guardar cama.I'm sick and I must stay in bed.
b. to be ill
Era invierno y varios de los alumnos estaban enfermos.It was winter and many of the students were ill.
c. to be unwell
Mi abuela estaba enferma, por lo que llamé a un médico.My grandmother was unwell, so I called a doctor.
