An adverb is a word that describes a verb, an adjective, or other adverbs (e.g. to run quickly, very tired).
1. (used to describe how a situation is going)
a. como va la cosa
As it is, I don't think my students are ready for the final exam.Como va la cosa, no creo que mis estudiantes estén listos para el examen final.
b. así como vamos
As it is, I don't think we're going to get to the movie on time.Así como vamos, no creo que lleguemos al cine a tiempo.
c. así como estamos

2. (indicating a current state)
a. tal como está
My family wants to paint the house, but I like it as it is.Mi familia quiere pintar la casa, pero a mí me gusta tal como está.
