It is one of the oldest churches in Pisa: its construction is dated 1070, seven years after the founding of the cathedral, although other sources indicate 1132 as the year of the consecration by Archbishop Uberto Lanfranchi. Its name derivesby Uberto, king of Italy of the X sec. who gave it the name Fracta filiorum Uberti. However the origin is antecedent: Etruscan or Umbra.
