While the number of prisons in Cuba is not known, there are a high volume of prison facilities, as well as a number of open farms where individuals charged with minor offences carry out their sentences.
Se han presentado quejas de particulares sobre el trato inadecuado a los presos romaníes, pero las investigaciones realizadas han indicado que los problemas se deben más a las actitudes de los demás presos que a las de las autoridades penitenciaras.
