Este documento pretende ser el marco de transformación de la cadena productiva del fréjol en nuestro país.	This document aims to be the milestone for the transformation of the bean production chain in our country.
En momentos de incertidumbres que el país enfrenta, nosotros que creemos en el cultivo del fréjol común tenemos motivos para estar optimistas.	At the moment of uncertainty that the country faces, we who believe in common bean crop have reason to be optimistic.
Según datos de Abrasem para la cosecha de 2015, solo en el 19% del área total cultivada con fréjol común utilizaron semillas certificadas.	According to data from Abrasem for the 2015 harvest, certified seeds were used in only 19% of the total area planted with common bean.
Si bien es cierto, a la cadena productiva del fréjol común se la considera poco organizada, se están haciendo esfuerzos para cambiar esta situación.	Although the common bean production chain is considered to be poorly organized, recent efforts are being expended to change this situation.
Cuando miramos el fréjol común, Brasil es el mayor productor mundial, pero cuando incluimos otros fréjoles alternamos el primer lugar con India y Myanmar.	When we look at common bean, Brazil is the largest producer in the world, but when we include other beans, we alternate the first place with India and Myanmar.
En los primeros ocho años de vigencia del Tratado, hasta el 2002, se dejaron de sembrar 1,6 millones de hectáreas de maíz, fréjol, trigo, arroz, soya y algodón.	In the first eight years the Treaty has been in force (1994 - 2002), they have stopped sowing 1.6 million hectacres of corn, beans, wheat, rice, soya and cotton.
La indemnización que realiza es de Bs.1000.- por hectárea, protegiendo 7 cultivos al 2015 y 9 cultivos en el 2017 (papa, trigo, maíz, haba, quinua, avena, cebada, alfalfa y fréjol).	The compensation is Bs.1000.- per hectare, protecting 7 crops by 2015 and 9 crops by 2017 (potatoes, wheat, corn, broad beans, quinoa, oats, barley, alfalfa and beans).
Los productores más tecnificados están invirtiendo en mejorar la calidad en la cosecha y construyendo estructuras para almacenamiento de fréjol en condiciones controladas de temperatura y humedad, lo que también reduce el oscurecimiento de los granos carioca.	More advanced producers are investing in quality in the harvesting and building structures for storage of beans under controlled conditions of temperature and humidity, which also reduces the grain browning.
De esta manera, el fréjol será siempre un elemento fundamental para la seguridad alimentaria de nuestro país y es nuestra principal, más sana y barata fuente proteica, además de proporcionar vitaminas, fibras y minerales.	In this way, beans continue to be a fundamental element for our country's food security and are our main, healthiest and cheapest source of protein, as well as providing vitamins, fibers and minerals.
Belice cuenta con una industria agropecuaria desarrollada. Los principales productos son las frutas cítricas, los productos del mar y el azúcar. Otros productos incluyen el banano, arroz, fréjol, maíz, pepino y la miel.	Agriculture and livestock farming are very prosperous in Belize, the major products are orange, sea food, sugar, banana, rice, kidney bean, sweet corn, cucumber, honey, beef and domestic fowls.

El frejol también forma parte de la canasta básica de alimentación con un consumo per cápita anual de 16kg.	Beans are also part of the basic food basket, with an annual per capita consumption of 16kg.
Entre los productos típicos de Castiglion Fibocchi, recordamos el vin santo, el aceite extra-virgen de oliva y el frejol `zolfino`.	Among the typical products in Castiglion Fibocchi, there are vin santo, olive oil, `zolfino` beans.
