Please help me to translate the following:

  1. Are you the homeowner?
  2. Is your mortgage interest rate greater than 5 %?
  3. Are you feeling hardship due to your current monthly mortgage payments?
  4. Have you modified your loan within the past year?
  5. Are you interested in enrolling in a loan modification program?

I really need your help, I tried to translate those sentences in the translator box in this site but some sentence is not correct, I can't get the right translation.

Thank you!

Hi Quentin,

I find Google translation quite acceptable and useful at least for technical texts. It has been useful for me. For instance:

"A die in the context of integrated circuits is a small block of semiconducting material, on which a given functional circuit is fabricated. Typically, integrated circuits are produced in large batches on a single wafer of electronic-grade silicon (EGS) through processes such as photolithography. The wafer is cut into many pieces, each containing one copy of the circuit. Each of these pieces is called a die."

The output:

"A morir en el contexto de los circuitos integrados es un pequeño bloque de material semiconductor, en la que un determinado circuito funcional se fabrica. Normalmente, los circuitos integrados son producidos en grandes cantidades en una sola oblea de silicio de grado electrónico (BSA) a través de procesos tales como la fotolitografía. La oblea se corta en muchos pedazos, cada uno conteniendo una copia del circuito. Cada una de estas piezas se llama morir."

If you changes 'morir' by the proper translation for the Spanish equivalent for the technical term 'die' you'll have a quite good translation, it makes sense.

I tried Yahoo (http://babelfish.yahoo.com/) and the results are not that good. I wonder if someone can suggest something better than Google.

Were those the actual machine translations or had you cleaned them up somewhat? I thought they were, at least, understandable which is rare for the translator.

No cleaning whatsoever: I copied and pasted the English text into this site's translator (Google's), and the output is identical, letter by letter, dot by dot. I mean, how often does someone get all the punctuation correct to the last tilde, but with some meaningless sentences? The machine translator's work is pretty good here, though.

Compare REGGIE's and Google's translations:

  1. ¿Es usted el dueño de una casa?

Even the missing "¿" in #2 is identical.

THAT'S NOT A PROBLEM SIR.THANK YOU SO MUCH!

HAVE A GREAT DAY! GOD BLESS

Reggie,
Please don't type in all capitals. See forum rules.

Did you notice that Pablo corrected one of your errors where you (or the machine) had switched from formal to informal use?
Did you understand the reason for saying the homeowner rather than a homeowner?

Since this is a grammar forum it's sometimes nice to get the reasons for the corrections along with the corrections themselves. (unless they're obvious spelling/typing errors).

Were those the actual machine translations or had you cleaned them up somewhat? I thought they were, at least, understandable which is rare for the translator.

Hi,

  1. ¿Es usted el propietario de la casa?
  2. ¿Es la tasa de interés de su crédito hipotecario mayor del 5%?
  3. ¿Está pasando apuros con los pagos/las cuotas mensuales hipotecarias?
  4. ¿Ha modificado/Modificó su crédito/préstamo el año pasado?
  5. ¿Está interesando en inscribirse en un programa de refinanciación de su crédito?

Here a definition of 'loan modification':

Ok, no offence, but we are not really helping you learn Spanish, but re-writing Google's translator results. I am here to help people improve their English, not to improve crappy machine translations so they look perfect for those who simply want a free perfect translation without trying or paying for it. Professional translation services are worth money, sorry.

Maybe someone else doesn't mind doing all the work for you.
