Hi, I have to give a talk in Spanish about the street children of the world and I would like your help in translating the following sentences.

I want to tell you a little about a boy named Roberto.

They earn their living in various ways, legal as well as illegal.

There are many persons in his family, but there's no father or mother.

Many thanks for your help, Robert and Valerie. I am going to use parts of both your suggestions. If I need any more help I'll post again. Kind Regards.

Well, I'll take a stab at it, but I hope a native speaker will come along and correct my efforts! smile

They earn their living in various ways, legal as well as illegal.

Se ganan la vida de varias maneras, legales e ilegales.

There are many persons in his family, but there's no father or mother.

Hay muchas personas en su familia, pero no hay ni madre ni padre.

Both are right Valerie, regards!

I don't think my examples are better. I was just trying to translate literally from his text. I think that since he doesn't speak Spanish fluently we should try re-phrasing these sentences for him in a simpler way. Later I'll be back, I'm busy now.
