hello im trying to use my microphone but its a built in with webcam and i was wondering how i could use it on spanish dict but how i use it on other applications on the webcam can you help me please

I don't really understand your question, but let me make a comment. If your webcam is like mine and you look at the end of the cord you will see that it has a USB socket for power and video and a separate plug that inserts into a microphone port. Whether the microphone is separate or "built in" they both behave identically. It is the port settings that the software here detects.

The "built-in" microphone works the same as a handheld microphone or one on a headset. It's just farther away from your mouth so turn on the gain or speak up.

Aside: If you ever happen to use a headset, remember that your webcam has a microphone also. Disable the mike on one or the other when using a microphone to avoid feedback or echoing.

Hola! My audio is not working anymore either. I was able to use my mic and play back. Now it does not even register sound. My mic works on other applications so I know it's not my equipment. I speak as the assignments instruct and submit even though it can't be heard. What can be done to fix it? Gracias smile

How foolish of me. I had noticed that he had said that he was doing English lessons.

However, if I could write what I said in Spanish I would be sitting on some Caribbean island right now speaking Spanish instead of trying to learn it here.

Gracias.

If you just prepare the audio part as you would have as if it was working properly (so that you will learn what you were supposed to have learned) and then check the "I have completed the exercise" box and click "Submit" you will get the 150 points. Since discussions aren't automatically generated anymore it really makes no difference at all that an actual recording isn't being made. No one hears it anyway. The only loss is that you don't get to hear yourself so that you can make corrections if the pronunciation sounds poorly to you. If that is meaningful for you then just use another program (e.g. Window Sound Recorder) and listen to yourself. No one at SpanishDict is reviewing your audio submission (currently).

As an aside: You do not have to do all the sections of a lesson to complete it. All you need is 750 pts. to get credit for completing the lesson. You do not have to complete one lesson to go on to the next one so don't let not completing one lesson keep you from moving forward. The points given for a lesson are to encourage you do do well (judge your own progress). Other than that they are meaningless.

qfreed, creo que Silben habla solamente en Espanol y esta aprendiendo Ingles. pienso que necesita traducir este parrafo en Espanol por El. Solamente un recomendacion.

I second that. The last few lessons for the Speak portion I have just figured out what I wanted to say, checked the "I have completed the speaking exercise" box and clicked the Submit button. I am quite sure that this is a software problem that it is not capturing the hardware settings and not one of our equipment. As the fixes here are backing up, I figured it wasn't worth repeated attempts to catch the server in a gracious mood.
I just checked my mike and headphone and re-tried a Speaking portion of a lesson. It was not capturing my settings. It is definitely a problem on the server side.
