Can anyone tell me when to use "es" versus "estoy"'

Cherry is very informative in his/her answers so I may not be able to help too much but I believed they were 2 completely different meanings....

Es = is
Estoy = I am

These come from 2 different verbs. Es comes from ser and is the 3rd person singular present tense (él ella, Ud.). Estoy is the 1st person singular (yo) present tense of estar.
