Below is a letter that I am trying to have properly translated into Spanish, followed by my attempt at a Spanish translation. Could someone please proofread this and verify the accuracy of the translation?
Happy Mother's Day, my friend.
I want to tell you that the years of our friendship are a treasure.
Your kindness and comfort have helped me to survive the most difficult challenges of my life. The laughter, the fears and troubles, the pain and the joy we have shared will be with me forever. Through all we have experienced I had hoped that our continued friendship would stand in defiance of all those who tried meant to hurt us. Although we were separated by many miles, I had hoped that our hearts would remain near.
No matter what the future holds, I want you to understand that you are now, and always will be my best friend. You were my counselor, my confidant, and, with every breath, the rhythm of my heart. I have two wishes: May you be happy and healthy in your life. And that you will call me again, when you feel that you can, and keep in touch with me. One day I hope that we can see each other again. My thoughts of you are a cherished memory. I will carry you in my heart for the rest of my life. Please understand that I will never let our friendship die, and I long to hear from you once again.
