"Mount Everest" versus "Everest Mount"

Me gustaría que me dijérais por qué en "Mount Everest" se escribe el nombre de la montaña detrás y por qué en "the Dead Sea" se escribe el nombre del mar delante.
¿Se podría decir "Mount Everest" y también "the Everest Mount"? ¿Cuál es la diferencia'. Como siempre, espero vuestra contestación.

Also place names that are plural include the definite article.
The United States.
The Great Lakes.
The United Kingdom. = England - Northern Ireland - Scotland and Wales.
The United Arab Emirates.
The Seychelles.
etc.
No lo sé con seguridad, pero me imagino que se debe a que son diferentes: con montañas, ríos y similares seguidos de su nombre propio, lo normal es que este segundo sustantivo funcione como adyacente determinativo (ej. River Thames, Mount Fuji, Lake Titicaca), mientras que en Dead Sea, aunque "dead" es parte del nombre del mar, funciona como adjetivo, y en inglés estos preceden al nombre.
Pero esto es solo una suposición basándome en lo que sé de gremática española, y tratando de encontrar una razón por inducción. A ver qué dicen los demás.
