Hay una bonita costumbre en Cataluña que se celebra el Dia de San Jordi (San Jorge). Se regala un libro a los hombres y a las mujeres una rosa. Las rosas se pueden encontrar en todos los colores y hasta dedicadas y personalizadas.

Las Ramblas de Barcelona tienen este aspecto en ese día:

On San Jordi a rose is given to a lady and a book to man, anything similar in your country? Have a look at the video and you will see that you get the flowers in all colours and shapes.

Here you can see you can even personalize a rose with a special dedication.

Actually it is two celebrations rolled into one,El día de san Jorge and El día de Cervantes to mark his birth which was on the same day as Shakespeare hence the book and as Sant Jorge is the patron saint of Cataluña this is only celebrated in Cataluña wheras El día de Cervantes is celebrated nationally so had El día de Cervantes fell on a different day there would be no book for the man just a rose for the lady, the man would get his book on some other day.
