Question

Can somebody please check my verb tenses in these sentences and see if they make sense! I am no good at spanish grammar :(

"Franco también no quiso que España dependa mucho de la economía de otros países, por eso él creyó en la autarquía para financiar su economía. La práctica de autarquía tenía malas efectos a la vida española porque había un crecimiento de la tasa de pobreza.

In my humble opinion I think you're making this much more complicated than it really is'by using fancy words and putting way too much information into a couple of sentences....I mean you can easily break this down and make it more understandable.

"creyo" he believed? or he created? he believed should be "el creyo"
"he created" should be "el creo"

Franco tambien no quiso....you're using a positive to create something negative...I don't know if, I'm explaining myself but typically something like this should be; Franco tampoco quiso...so instead of 'tambien no? just use; tampoco quiso....

Franco tampoco quiso que España dependiera mucho de la economía de otros países, por eso el recurrió a la autarquía para financiar su economía. La práctica de autarquía tuvo malos efectos en la vida española porque dio resultados de más pobreza.

A general suggestion: In this case it's pretty apparent what you're trying to say, but it's better if you include the English version also in case there is a question.
For instance is that ...a la vida....por la vida? Are you trying to say "bad effects on Spanish life" or to Spanish life?

Also the additional context of the English verbs may help decide whether the Spanish ones should be preterit or imperfect. I'm not sure that I would have used the preterit where you did, but sometimes you have to know the intent of the author to decide.
