I don't understand why this doesn't say "The mambo is killing us'" Instead I think it is saying "The mambo is dying with us'"

muriendo --> morir --> to die
matando --> matar --> to kill

"The mambo is dying with us'" is rather strange in English. "... is dying on/for us." is more natural.
Contrasting "El Mambo se nos está muriendo" with, simply, "El Mambo se está muriendo": The latter would be a simple statement that the Mambo is dying (going out of fashion). The addition of "nos" means that we are affected (emotionally impacted) by the demise of the Mambo.
