suggestions for improvement
Will the weekly points contest return? That was a great feature and motivator!
Thanks

I see no way to delete a post or thread (if I started it). There should be one.
When I compose a post and click on Submit, the window refreshes to the top of the thread page, rather than the bottom where my new post is found. This means I have to scroll down to see my post. The refresh should go to the bottom of the page or whatever part was being viewed when "Post reply" was first clicked.
The function for changing font color doesn't work properly. When I highlight text and click on a color from the menu, it works fine, but if I then highlight more text and try to click on the color again, nothing happens, which means that I have to copy and paste the formatting tags, which is very inconvenient. Plus, isn't it possible to see the actual color in the post I am composing, rather than the tags? At WR, all the formatting changes are visible as you compose the post, and not just after it is submitted.
Thanks for reading.
Curiouser and curiouser, I am talking sent, and my sent messages are not stored by default. I haven't tried the little check box to store it in the sent messages folder yet. I hadn't noticed it until Heidita mentioned it.
One more thing. Why have an outbox for private messages, if they are going to be deleted as soon as you send them? I am not saying get rid of the out box, I am saying save my sent messages.
We are talking Sent folder, are we not? The Outbox folder is usually where your mail sits after you hit send until it is actually transmitted. Some programs that don't have a separate box for Rough Drafts also store them in that folder.
But back to the point..Sent mail IS stored by default. I know because I routinely go there and manually empty the contents the folder. There is a 60 message storage limit and since they do not explain if that is 60 sent, received or both PM's I keep all my folders emptied.
If I understand what you wrote, you are saying that your Rough Draft wasn't automatically stored as some programs do, if you try to close a message without sending it.
Also of interest (because I haven't seen it mentioned on that page) is that there is a limit on how many PM's you can send within a 24 hour span. I know because I exceeded it and it wouldn't let me send any more PM's, even though, I had 0 PM's stored in my mailboxes.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you the limit because I was doing a Chat with PM's since we needed attachments to send screen captures and it was quite a few.
No you didn't misunderstand. It just hadn't occurred to me that They weren't saved by default. When I typed that I had just checked my sent box to see what I had written to somebody, and realized that nothing had been saved. Thanks for the response
Hi St4eve, probably I am misunderstanding....you can keep your sent messages by clicking a box at the bottom and there is a scroll down window on the top right where you can go to your sent messages.

With regard to viewing the original post when replying, There is a "Thread Review" button at the bottom of the reply page, If you click it it will diplay the thread, reverse sorted. I sometimes initiate a reply just so I can use this feature, as longer threads become a pain in that viewing recent activity requires going to the last page of the thread. I wish we could sort the threads in reverse without going to reply.
On another note: wouldn't it be nice if we could still attach files to posts? All that can be attached now are images'

Just to tell you a workaround on the colors. (By the way have you tried switching the radio button from Normal to Guided') Pick the first word that you wish to be whatever color say red. Now lets say that you want a 2nd word red. Repeat how you made the first word red and nothing happens. Why? You are only allowed to use a color once per message. So make the word that you want to be red another color, say, blue or green. Then change the color=green back to red. (erase green , write red).
I've come to the conclusion that that is why the little number on the top, right of your reply is called a permalink. It's easier than writing code that says if you delete a reply then decrease the number of every subsequent reply by one.
[del]BTW,click on my name link up on the left of this reply and see if you see Daffy Duck. Who says we can't upload pictures.'[/del]
Why you click "Reply," the original post on the thread can't be seen. It would be nice to still have this visible when replying.
It would also be nice to get the "strikethrough" formatting feature back, as it is useful in the Proofreading category.
By the way, the new quote function is easier to use (in my opinion).
Amen about not being able to see the original post when applying. I usually have to open a second browser window so that I can see both. As for the [del]strikethrough[/del]...is that what you are referring to? For some reason they call it del(ete) here.
[del]Got it, thanks! I didn't want to delete my reply . . . it never occurred to me to use the second button up there![/del]

I would like to see "My Page" changed so that entering "Location", "Native Language" and "Gender" are mandatory fields. The registration page may need to be changed to make these fields mandatory. This would all be useful information for evaluating the user's knowledge of Spanish and perhaps dealing with posts in the forum.
Also what is the field "Type the Word" used for on the registration page?
Get rid of the field that asks "Are you a:" or change it to "I am a" and allow those who are other to make an entry in the field. These items appear on the "Edit Profile" page.
Move the "Bio" field higher up on "My Page" so that entries made gain greater prominence.
If it is to serve no purpose, as it seems now, get rid of the "Extras" Notepad. Clutter is pointless.
Hasta próximo.
