On Lesson 1.1 on the Recall. When it says I am sad and you answer Estoy triste, it still says that it is incorrect. When you review at the end, it is shows the exact same thing for the correct answer and the answer I typed... why is this'

I had found the same thing, and there was somewhere else I found the same problem but I can't remember where now! To anyone starting out on learn spanish 1 you will come across a few hiccups like this, many were around before the 'big crash', on some of the lesson flashcard pictures are missing (off the top of my head some are 'el dormitorio', 'la iglesia', la vendedora', 'el sombrero' (can't remember which lessons these are) and also on 2.1 (I think) when you do recall you have to type 'la verterinaria' (when it should be veterinaria) to be marked correct. However, these issues aside, for a free site it is still fantastic!

I figured it out! You have to put Estoy 'single space' triste 'single space'
Estoy_triste_

You have to put the space at the end to get it correct. Weird.

Whoa! There is no time limit on editing these posts. I originally posted this hours ago. That will prove handy. Now, the next time someone tells me I put something stupid in a reply I can go back and edit it out and just ask them what the heck they are referring to. Nice!

I just wanted to mention that the phenomenon that I was referring to happened in my post above. When I contrasted three answers that were distinct one had two blanks between the words. The editor here when displaying my reply removed the extra blank. This may be what is the problem with that flashcard. There are two blank spaces between the words which makes comparisons fail, but displayed there is only one blank space so you can't see the reason for the problem.

I tried to edit the above reply to put the two blank spaces back between the two word...estoy[del]bb[/del]triste and saw that they are still there even though you only see one. Exactly what I suspect the problem is on the flashcard.

Save differences in upper or lower case fonts your answer is compared to the prompt on file. If there is an extra space or punctuation mark in your answer it will be marked wrong. estoy triste and estoy triste. and estoy triste are all different answers. What I suspect will be found out is there is a extra blank space in the prompt, but due to formatting criteria this extra blank is removed when displaying the correct answer.
If it were just a server glitch it would not repeat (I tired it and got your same result).
See attached photos. (Oops! I had two photos- one showing the prompt with my answer and one showing the card saying that it was incorrect. However, they exceeded the size limit for attachments (75KB) so there is only 1 photo attached). See my next post below for the other picture.

An administrator will answer your question probably soon. The website is experiencing some problems after a serious crash. All will be fixed soon, please have a little more patience.
